it does heat up on regular usage, high def gaming or continuous data/WiFi use. though Asus promotes it as heating prone, no phone in the world can be without heating these days. point to note is heating occurs due to excessive usage and not because of software/hardware issue like xiaomi 1s is showing.
by the way, under 10k this is the best phone at the moment. 2gb ram, Asus ui and softwares, a good solid hardware. don't waste money on 16gb variant as it carries external memory support too. getting a 8gb is tougher than 1s or mi3 because of huge demand.

honestly, I have not seen or read any review (review as in real review not just reading out specs) of both xolo you mentioned. being octacore obvious it will be costlier as am going by 9999 one 8gb model of Asus as assumption in compare. more processor speed will make gameing better as all three got 2gb ram. but you can't deny heating in xolo octacore too. heating is normal process until there is serious problem like xiaomi 1s has. dont heavy use mobile it'll always work smooth.
